RSE CONSULTATION GUIDANCE
The Government and Morals Committee of the FP Church have issued excellent guidance on responding to the RSE consultation and we would highly recommend everyone to read it or print out.
SOME THOUGHTS
The consultation does NOT give opportunity to discuss the content of the curriculum, whether that is the promotion of gender ideology, abortion as a health "service", or contraception.
By teaching these controversial topics, the Government, via the Department of Education, is imposing their moral values on your children.
There is no provision in the legislation for teachers to opt out of teaching abortion or contraception.
The UN CEDAW Report and the NI Human Rights Commission Report are completely immoral in promoting this content to children, openly criticising schools for promoting abstinence and the value of a human life.
RSE replaces the moral teaching of parents with the radical ideology of the day, contravening Section 76 of the N.I Act 1998, and The Human Rights Act 1998 Part II Article 2.
It is the parents' fundamental human rights to educate their children and teach or have them taught according to their own ethos and moral values.
Children up to the age of 16, are legally seen as the property of their parents and should not be able to override the decisions of parents, and all Human Rights laws reinforce that.
Abortion, the taking of a human life, can never be taught in a morally neutral way.
An opt-out is not an acceptable option for parents as the topics are to be included throughout the curriculum and children will talk to each other about the content anyway.
How can gender ideology where a boy can transition to a girl or vice versa be taught in a "scientifically accurate" way? This is dangerous to children's development and has led to many thousands of children being harmed across the world.
In the consultation booklet it discusses, for the first time, changes to the minimum order content with RSE topics to include, but NOT LIMITED TO:
Consent
Violence against women and girls
Domestic abuse
Healthy and Respectful Sexual Relationships
Marriage
LQBTQ+ issues
Abstinence
Menstrual health and wellbeing
Social Media and Online safety
Parents should have access to ALL teaching materials from schools and all third party providers, on request, and copyright or commercial legal restrictions should NOT override the rights of parents.
